Mentoring

Private practice is a fast-paced, stimulating and fun environment to work in. Working face to face with clients to understand their unique challenges is like being an investigator, piecing together a complex problem. It can be hugely rewarding as you see first hand the changes you are making in someone’s life. But there is also a danger that it can become overwhelming.

The PhysiYoga Approach to Mentoring

PhysiYoga physiotherapy treatment education

We understand the challenges new and recent graduates face and have held their hand as they navigated their way through.

We have hired and mentored many new graduate physiotherapists, giving them an opportunity and skills to succeed in this rewarding environment. We teach our  physios:

  • Whole body assessments frameworks (ConnectTherapy)
  • A functional approach to exercise prescription – yoga and Pilates
  • What success looks and feels like in Private Practice

Mentoring Programs

We believe that focussed practice and feedback is key to success. All our programs have a maximum of 10 participants for this reason.

From our experience in working with students and physios new to Private Practice, we have developed three programs aimed filling in some common knowledge and skills gaps. So if you’re contemplating joining (or leaving!) Private Practice settings, these programs are designed to provide confidence and inspiration:

  1. Kickstart to Private Practice online mentoring

Option 2: Introduction to the Thorax and Pelvis

These courses are delivered by PhysiYoga Founder and Director Emily Eglitis. Emily has over 15 years in clinical practice and was Australia’s first Certified ConnectTherapy Practitioner.

These short courses are inspired by Emily’s direct mentoring with Dr Linda-Joy Lee. Dr Lee is creator of innovative clinical approaches including The Thoracic Ring Approach, ConnectTherapy and is also co-creator of the Integrated Systems Model with Diane Lee.

PhysiYoga’s one day programs take a fresh look at these poorly understood regions of the body. The purpose of these courses are to:
  • Review the biomechanics of the Pelvis or Thorax – what is optimal?
  • Provide useful assessment techniques for you to determine if the Pelvis or Thorax is dysfunctional
  • Provide a framework to determine if your treatment of the area has been effective
  • Consider the Pelvis and Thorax in relationship to each other – is one driving problems in the other or vice versa?
  • Integrate current concepts in motor control, movement, Pilates and Yoga into creating exercise programs for these regions

The goal of these programs is to provide a mini-retreat to refresh you for the demands of Private Practice. The format of the day is:

  • Morning theory and practical
  • Fully catered, healthy lunch
  • Afternoon practicals and exercise prescription
  • Ongoing support through a 1x 1 hour coaching call
  • Access to a Private Facebook community

The Thorax and Pelvis components are designed to be taken individually or as a pair.

Cost: $800 each module. $1500 for both.

Duration: 1 day, with 3 months ongoing support

Dates: May and June 2023
